Learning Curve: a youth-led event at 90mil

On 3 July 2026, the young team of 90mil opened Spaces Beyond, our Erasmus+ Youth Participation project, with Learning Curve, an evening of workshops, art, food and music, free for everyone.

Learning Curve was born in response to the ever-shrinking number of free art, cultural and third spaces for young people in Berlin. It is designed, led and shaped by people under 30, as a place to learn, create and simply be together.

Printing our stories – Political Poster Linocut workshop

In the weeks before the event, Mon, one of our young team members, led a free three-day linoleum printing workshop, spread over three weeks and open to young people under 30. Together, the group discussed the topics that matter to them and worked out ways to bring their messages to paper, while learning the lino printing technique step by step. Each participant finished their own print or poster, and the results were shown in a collective exhibition at the event. A collective piece made in the workshop hung in our community room for several months afterwards.

Workshops: reimagining how we live in the city

The three workshops were chosen by the young crew organising the event. Each one invited participants to rethink how we live in the city: who the space belongs to, how we move in it, and what we want it to become.

  • Urban foraging with Simka: discovering the edible and healing plants of the 90mil garden and the neighbourhood, getting to know the ecosystems around us and reclaiming urban land as a shared source of knowledge.
  • The Non-Fearful Body Club with Phoenix: a joyful exploration of movement and sound that breaks with learned social codes and invites participants to reclaim their bodies and their freedom of expression.
  • It Takes a Village, a clay workshop with Miles: sitting together around the table, participants built in miniature the spaces we need, imagining through their fingers and in conversation the neighbourhoods, homes and communities we could thrive in.

Exhibition, food and music

Alongside the lino prints, an open call brought in works by young artists on grief, love, growth, trust and learning. The evening continued with a shared family-style meal, a performance by Lover Buffet, and a DJ set by Shaya (TrigueƱo) that kept people together: dancing, and continuing their conversations in our community room and out in the garden.

Learning Curve was also a first test for our young team, who organised the whole event themselves, a step towards our next big event, Tending the Gap.

Thank you to everyone who came, created and shared. Poster design: @kik.k.i.
